Biographical Information[edit]

Hsi-Hua Hsu played in the CPBL for 8 years.

Hsu represented Taiwan in the 1989 World Port Tournament. When the CPBL was founded in 1990, Hsu joined the Mercuries Tigers and he hit .244/.307/.337 in that season. He collected the first hit in Tigers history, against Ping-Yang Huang on March 17. In the 1990 Taiwan Series, he hit .154/.214/.231 and the Wei Chuan Dragons beat the Tigers in 6 games. Hsu then hit .231/.266/.286, and his batting line was .254/.271/.289 in 1992. He had a career-high 46 hits with a .232/.276/.283 batting line in 1993, then he batted .222/.257/.259 in 1994. Hsu had a .228/.301/.262 and .237/.295/.258 batting line respectively in the next two seasons. After having a 1-for-11 record in 1997, the Tigers sent him to the China Times Eagles after the Eagles lost most of their players due to game-fixing scandal. He hit .183/.238/.215 for them, and he was 2-for-14 in the 1997 Taiwan Series. The Dragons beat the Eagles in 6 games, and Hsu announced his retirement.

Overall, Hsu had hit .231/.279/.278 with 264 hits and 3 homers in 8 seasons in the CPBL.
