Biographical Information[edit]

Hitomi Honda has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Honda was drafted by the Orix Buffaloes in the 4th round of the 2017 NPB draft, but he had a severe right elbow injury in 2018 and missed two seasons. He mainly stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2020 and 2021, and he only started 3 games combined with the big club. Honda was turned into a reliever in 2022, and he notched 14 holds with a 3.50 ERA in 47 appearances. He relieved Motoki Higa in the 6th inning in the 2022 Nippon Series Game 1, and he pitched a shutout inning with 2 strikeouts (of Tetsuto Yamada and Domingo Santana). Honda then notched a hold with a shutout inning in Game 2, and he relieved Taisuke Kondo in the 9th inning of Game 3. However, he allowed 3 runs in an inning of work. The Buffaloes beat the Swallows in 7 games, and Honda won his first title. He got a point in the 2022 PL MVP Voting. He slumped to a 6.34 ERA in 28 games in 2023.
