Biographical Information[edit]

Hiroshi Sato pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.

Sato represented Japan in the 1998 Baseball World Cup, striking out 9 and allowing 4 runs in 7 innings. The Yomiuri Giants drafted him in the third round of the 1999 NPB draft. He collected 10 wins in ni-gun in his rookie year, but only had a single appearance with the big club in the first three years of his career. He pitched 26 games in 2004, but his ERA was terrible 5.93. The Hiroshima native had a 13-game streak without allowing any runs in the beginning of the 2005 season. He even replaced Dan Miceli to became the new closer of the Giants. However, Sato struggled in the rest of the season, and ended up recording a 6.87 ERA with 7 saves in that season. He only had 8 appearances in 2006, then the Giants released him after that season. The Rakuten Golden Eagles picked him up, but he only had 2 appearances combined the next two seasons The Rakuten released him after the 2008 season, and his career ended.

Overall, Sato was 3-2 with a 5.74 ERA and pitched 91 innings in 6 seasons in NPB.
