Biographical Information[edit]
Hicks Hayhurst played with the amateur Philadelphia Athletics starting in 1861, and continued through the late 1860s, by which time he was past 40. He was involved for years after in the management of the club, and later was president of the Olympic Club.
While serving as chairman of the Athletics, Hayhurst had worked with Octavius Catto and Jacob White Jr. in an attempt to integrate the game more.
In 1875, he was the umpire for one game in the National Association.
