Hernando Arredondo has played 18 seasons in the minor leagues (through 2010). He is the brother of Luis Arredondo, Alan Arredondo and Jorge Arredondo.
Hernando debuted with the 1993 Puebla Parrots, going 1 for 13 with a walk and two runs at age 16. He was 7 for 26 with a double and a walk in 1994, then was up to .291/.331/.329 in 77 games as a backup for Puebla in '95. That won the interest of MLB clubs. He signed with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, who did not yet have their club in the American League but were building their farm chain. Arredondo hit .357/.429/.544 with 59 runs in 67 games for the Butte Copper Kings, leading the Rays' 3-team farm chain in average. The third baseman was 7th in the Pioneer League in average but only fielded his spot at .867 rate. Baseball America named him as Tampa Bay's 7th-best prospect entering 1997.
Arredondo hit .275/.333/.370 for the 1997 Hudson Valley Renegades and was 4 for 17 for the Charleston RiverDogs. Overall, he fielded .879 at the hot corner. Hernando split 1998 between the St. Petersburg Devil Rays (.189/.207/.267 in 25 G) and the Quintana Roo Lobstermen (3 for 22, 2 BB, 2B). In '99, he batted .246/.289/.297 for Quintana Roo.
The Guaymas native improved to .285/.318/.407 for the 2000 Campeche Pirates then put up a .276/.298/.356 line in 2001 between Campeche and the Cordoba Cafeteros. In '02, Hernando hit .262/.306/.384 for Cordoba followed by a .287/.321/.464 campaign in 2003 split between Cordoba and the Tabasco Olmecas. The next year, he batted .296/.324/.392 for Tabasco. Arredondo put up a .291/.320/.471 line for the '05 Olmecas, then hit .283/.334/.431 in 2006 and .302/.350/.439 in 2007.
In 2008, the veteran infielder batted .293/.342/.457 for Tabasco. He split 2009 between Tabasco and the Saltillo Saraperos, hitting a combined .316/.363/.466 and helping Saltillo to the title. Back with the Saraperos in '10, he hit .309/.352/.454.
