Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Herbert Kam played three years of minor league ball prior to World War II. He split 1939 between the Leesburg Anglers (.273, .355 SLG in 57 G) and Jamestown Jaguars (.263, .465 SLG in 31 G). In 1940, he played for two PONY League teams (13 for 46, 2B, 3B, 2 HR) and Rome Colonels (.301, .442 SLG in 51 G). In 1941, he hit .308 and slugged .481 in 27 games between Rome and the Utica Braves. During the war, he served in the U.S. Army, and he later worked in sporting goods retailing. He passed away in 2012 at age 93.
