Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Herb Stein played nine seasons of minor league ball, missing three years in the middle of his career while serving in the Army during World War II. He spent the last summer and a half of his playing days as a player/manager with the Stamford Pioneers and Jesup Bees.
Later on he was a longtime scout for the Washington Senators and Minnesota Twins from the 1952 to 1994, signing Rod Carew, Frank Viola, Gene Larkin, Scott Leius, and Scott Ullger among others.
