Biographical Information[edit]

Hee-sung Mun played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 9 years.

Mun played for South Korea in the 1995 Intercontinental Cup. He batted .345/.457/.828 with 7 of his 10 hits going for extra bases. He was their main DH and also backed up Hyuk Kang at 1B. He tied Evert-Jan 't Hoen, Byung-kyu Lee, Omar Linares, Norman Cardoze, Nobuhiko Matsunaka, Jose Ramon Padilla and Yoshitomo Tani for second with 3 homers, one behind Juan Rodriguez. He was named the All-Star DH.

The OB Bears selected him in the third round of the 1995 KBO draft, and he hit .250/.333/.395 in 94 games in his first season. Mun stayed in the minors in 1996, and he was 4-for-12 in 1997. He still didn't get many chances as he only played 63 games combined in the next three seasons, and he hit .229/.293/.410 in 71 games with 9 homers in 2003. After having a .167/.255/.214 batting line in 2004, Mun finally broke out and he crushed 10 homers with a .273/.353/.413 batting line. However, he slumped to .197/.282/.276 in 2006, then he announced his retirement.

Overall, Mun hit .247/.322/.390 with 224 hits and 30 homers in 9 seasons in the KBO.
