Biographical Information[edit]
Hee-kwan Yoo has pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization.
Yoo was on the South Korean national team for the 2007 Baseball World Cup. His team's least-used hurler, he only pitched 1 2/3 IP in their 10 games. In a 18-2 romp over Thailand, he retired Chidsanu Janrak, Panya Prayonghom and Somsak Sarnwit in the 6th. In a 7-2 loss to Cuba, he retired Alfredo Despaigne and Rudy Reyes to end the 8th. He made his KBO debut with the 2009 Doosan Bears, with a 4.05 ERA in 13 1/3 IP over 16 games. He allowed 4 runs and 5 hits in 3 1/3 IP in 2010 then missed time due to military service. He returned in 2013 and was much better as a starter, going 10-7 with a 3.53 ERA to help Doosan reach the 2013 Korean Series. He finished 7th in the KBO in ERA, between Chris Oxspring and Shane Youman. He allowed 2 runs (1 earned) in 3 2/3 IP in game 3 of the Series, a loss to the Samsung Lions and Won-sam Jang; he left early after a visit by the pitching coach in the 4th and a later visit by the manager while disputing an umpiring call, due to KBO rules limited two coaching/managerial trips to the hill in one inning.
