Biographical Information[edit]
Harry Burrell appeared in eight games in the majors, posting a record of 4-2 as a pitcher for the St. Louis Browns in 1891. He also played ball locally and in the minors from 1889 to 1900. He had gotten attention earlier in 1891 because he had gone 23-14 for the Joliet Giants. After his stint in the majors, he pitched for the 1892 Milwaukee Brewers, a team full of past and future major leaguers.
Harry's father, from Quebec, was named Burrelle. In 1901, Harry was teaching at a college in Iowa. Pat Putnam, who played decades later, is related to Harry.
Buster Burrell was also in the majors in 1891, but Buster and Harry are not listed as being related.
Two of the sources: SABR biography of Harry Burrell and SABR biography of Pat Putnam.
