Biographical Information[edit]
In 2019, Hector Ortiz was named first base coach of the Texas Rangers under new manager Chris Woodward. He had previously served as bullpen coach for the Rangers from 2015 to 2018. He was let go after the 2020 season.
He managed in the Puerto Rican League for a number of years.
He passed away from cancer in 2024, a disease that he had been fighting for the past three years and which had led to his being assigned less strenuous duties in the Rangers organization.
