Biographical Information[edit]

Gustavo Gómez pitched in the minor leagues and for the Panama national baseball team.

Gómez began his professional career with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and he was 0-2 with a 5.08 ERA for the DSL Dodgers in 2008. He improved to 2-3 with a 2.70 ERA in 2009, then he was 3-2 with a 3.68 ERA for the AZL Dodgers and 1-1 with a 3.52 ERA for the Ogden Raptors. Gómez went 5-1 with a 4.87 ERA for the Raptors in 2011, but he allowed 14 runs in 11 1/3 innings for the Great Lakes Loons. He tied for 6th in the Pioneer League in wins and tied Tyler Cravy for second with 81 strikeouts, 8 behind Brian Peacock.

He then represented Panama in the 2011 Baseball World Cup, with a 4.91 ERA in five appearances. He beat Canada's Mike Johnson but lost the 7th/8th place game to Juan Colmenarez of Venezuela. He was not the only Gustavo G. on their staff as they also had Gustavo González. [1] In the 2011 Pan American Games, he struggled with three walks, a hit and three runs in 1/3 of an inning. [2]

Gómez struggled in 2012 as he went 8-8 with a 5.63 ERA for the Loons, then he was 5-6 with a 5.50 ERA for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in 2013. He had a 2-2 record with a 6.66 ERA for the Quakes in 2014, and his professional career ended.

Overall, Gómez was 26-27 with a 5.13 ERA, struck out 443 and pitched 479 1/3 innings in 7 seasons in his professional career.
