Biographical Information[edit]
Gustavo Armas has spent his entire professional baseball career in the Philadelphia Phillies organization.
The Phillies signed Armas as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela in 2013 and he played in their minor league system from 2014-2019, missing time his first year after a 50-game suspension for a positive test for a banned substance. He reached the AA Reading Fightin Phils in his final season. Over his six minor league seasons, Armas had a 14-17 record with one save and an ERA of 3.64.
Armas started his post-playing career as a video coordinator for the Clearwater Threshers.[1] He moved into a coaching role in 2022 as an assistant pitching coach for the DSL Phillies Red. Armas moved up a rung in the Phillies player development system in 2023 as pitching development coach for the FCL Phillies in 2023. He returned to the Threshers in 2024 as one of the team's pitching coaches.
