Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Greg McMurtry was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the first round of the 1986 amateur draft with the 14th overall pick but did not sign. Instead, he attended the University of Michigan and went on to play pro football in the NFL with the New England Patriots and the Chicago Bears. A wide receiver, he scored 5 touchdowns in 5 NFL seasons. He was later taken in the 27th round of the 1990 amateur draft by the Detroit Tigers in between two other NFL players, Kerry Collins and Rodney Peete.
