Biographical Information[edit]
Greg Lovelady played in the minors then became a college coach.
Lovelady hit .318/.362/.496 with 36 RBI in 42 games for Miami in 1999. He was 0 for 4 in the finale of the 1999 College World Series, which Miami won. He hit .260/.376/.429 in a backup role as a junior in 2000. In 2001, the senior batted .269/.314/.423 as a part-timer. He again got the start in the College World Series finale and again was 0 for 4, but Miami won the 2001 College World Series. Undrafted, he signed with his hometown Florida Marlins. He was 10 for 65 with a double, 3 walks, 4 runs, 5 RBI and 21 strikeouts for the Utica Blue Sox, fielding .993 and throwing out 29% of opponent base-stealers.
He was assistant coach at Wright State University from 2007-2013 before being promoted to head coach. After three years, he moved on to the same role at the University of Central Florida where he stayed through the 2023 season.
