Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Greg LaFever played four years of minor league ball.

Originally selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 11th round of the 1984 amateur draft, LaFever opted to remain in school and was then taken by the Cleveland Indians in the 14th round of the 1985 amateur draft. He played three seasons in their organization, winning 10 games for the Waterloo Indians of the Midwest League in 1986. Prior to the 1988 season, he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Reggie Williams. He spent his final pro campaign with the San Antonio Missions that summer, going 9-7 with a 3.49 ERA in 26 games.

LaFever died in 2015 at age 51, following a long battle with cancer.
