Biographical Information

Greg Frady has been the manager of the German national team and the head coach at Georgia State University.

Frady played 4 seasons for Troy State University and twice appeared in the Division II World Series, including a Division II title in 1986. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1987 and a master's from Columbus State in 1989. In 1988, he was married.

Frady began his coaching career as an assistant at Columbus State in 1988. In 1990, he became head coach at North Florida Community College. In 1997, Greg became associate head coach at the University of Central Florida. During 2004, he got the same position at Georgia State University. That year, he began coaching the German national team and helped them win the B Pool at the European Championship to return to the A Pool. He guided them to 4th in the 2005 European Championship, their best finish in decades.

In 2007, Frady became head coach at Georgia State. He went 370-365-1 in 13 seasons there. He again piloted Germany to 4th at the 2007 European Championship. He then was their manager in their surprising 2007 Baseball World Cup appearance - playing their first Baseball World Cup in three decades, Germany was never eliminated in a 7-inning mercy-rule game and took Cuba the full nine innings. Then, in the 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament, Frady's Germans got two wins and took the tourney champion Team Canada into extra innings before falling.

He managed Germany in the 2009 Baseball World Cup and the 2010 European Championship, when they won the Bronze, their first Medal in a European Championship in 35 years. He has also managed Germany in the 2011 Baseball World Cup, 2012 European Championship, 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers and the 2014 European Championship. For his work, he was named to the German Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016.
