Grant Anders
Grant Anders
Biographical Information[edit]
Grant Anders graduated from Radford University in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in economics. He did not play baseball at Radford, but did work as the team's director of baseball operations from 2016-2018. In 2019 Anders earned a master's degree in sports law and business from Arizona State University.
In addition to his baseball duties at Radford, Anders worked as a stadium operations intern with the Pulaski Yankees in 2016. He served as a minor league video intern with the Kansas City Royals from June, 2017 to November, 2018. The following year year he worked for the Cincinnati Reds as a baseball operations trainee.
Not the usual path to professional baseball coaching, but in 2020 the Baltimore Orioles hired Anders to be the Bowie Baysox development coach before COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the minor league season. He did coach Bowie in 2021.
In 2022 the Orioles named Anders a Major League Player Development Analyst, a role he repeated in 2023. The article linked below does a nice job of explaining his role and that of other development coaches. The Orioles promoted Anders to the major league coaching staff in 2024 with the title of Major League Development Coach.
