Biographical Information[edit]

Gordon Seyfried was signed by the Detroit Tigers in 1956 and made it to the majors in 1963 and 1964 with the Cleveland Indians, who traded for him after the 1962 season. In the majors he had an 0.93 ERA.

In 1958 he led the Eastern League in victories with 17, while playing for the Lancaster Red Roses. He pitched for the Denver Bears in 1960.

On November 27, 1962, Seyfried was traded with Ron Nischwitz to the Cleveland Indians for Bubba Phillips.

The Sporting News in 1964 reported that his #1 pitch was his slider. Another source claims he threw a knuckler.

He made his big league debut on September 13, 1963, against the Los Angeles Angels. Relieving Early Wynn, Seyfried pitched one inning, allowing two hits and no runs in his big league debut.

He pitched for the Portland Beavers in 1966.
