Biographical Information[edit]

Gordon Seyfried was signed by the Detroit Tigers in 1956 and made it to the majors in 1963 and 1964 with the Cleveland Indians. On November 27, 1962, Seyfried and Ron Nischwitz had been traded by Detroit to the Indians in return for Bubba Phillips. In the majors he had an 0.93 ERA, allowing just one earned run in 9 2/3 innings. He made his big league debut on September 13, 1963, against the Los Angeles Angels. Relieving Early Wynn, he pitched one inning, allowing two hits and no runs.

In 1958 he led the Eastern League in victories with 17, while playing for the Lancaster Red Roses. He pitched for the Denver Bears in 1960.

The Sporting News reported in 1964 that his #1 pitch was his slider. Another source claims he threw a knuckler.

He pitched for the Portland Beavers in 1966.
