Biographical Information[edit]
Gordie Clark was an infielder for Team Canada in the 1971 Pan American Games; he hit .396. He was more noted for his play on the ice, though; the Scottish-born, Canadian-raised Clark wound up playing two seasons in the NHL for the Boston Bruins and later was an assistant coach for the Bruins when they went to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1990. He scouted for the Bruins and New York Rangers and was Director of Player Personnel for the Rangers. He was not the first NHL player to play baseball in the Pan American Games; Jack McCartan had played for Team USA in the 1959 Pan American Games then was in the NHL as a goalie.
