George Tate

George Tate was the owner of one of the first Negro League teams from Cleveland, OH, which he called the Cleveland Tate Stars. They played in the Negro National League in 1922 and Tate was vice president of the NNL that year. The next year, the Tate Stars were an associate member of the Eastern Colored League for part of the year, and then rejoined the NNL as an associate team in July 1923 for the remainder of the season.
