Biographical Information[edit]
"Pitcher George Kaiserling, of the Champion Indianapolis team . . . is admittedly one of the best young pitchers in baseball. . . He . . . assuredly has a brilliant future before him." - Sporting Life issue of December 26, 1914
George Kaiserling pitched well in his two seasons in the Federal League. In 1914, he went 17-10 with the Indianapolis Hoosiers, who won the pennant. The following year, 1915 he was even better, albeit on a worse team, posting a 2.24 ERA for the Newark Peppers.
He was featured (along with a drawing of his face) on p. 1 of Sporting Life of December 26, 1914. The article indicated that he began professionally with Great Bend in 1910.
The Federal League folded after 1915 and Kaiserling never made it back to the majors. He pitched for the Toledo Iron Men in 1916. He died at age 24 in 1918.
