Biographical Information[edit]

George Joyce played one game for Washington in 1886.

Originally just listed as just Joyce, he was thought to have been Bill Joyce but Bill broke into the majors in 1890 when he was 24. Bill was born in St. Louis, but came to Washington as a player in 1894.

Due to research done by SABR he was later identified to be George W. Joyce. George played one game in 1886 when Sadie Houck sprained an ankle. George was a player from a much earlier time, having played in amateur ball in the 1860s and was 39 years old when he played in that game. See this SABR newsletter.
