Biographical Information

George Digby was a Boston Red Sox scout for 50 years. He was originally a high school coach in New Orleans, LA when the Red Sox signed one of his players; negociating on the player's behalf, he impressed the Sox enough that they offered him a job as well. He signed over 50 major leaguers, including Wade Boggs, Tom Bolton, Steve Curry, Mike Greenwell, Jody Reed and Marc Sullivan. He is a member of the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame and the "George Digby Award" was instituted in his honor to reward the best scout in the organization.
