Gavin Jeffries has been with the South African national team at times.

Jeffries was on South Africa's roster for the 2006 World Baseball Classic but did not pitch. In the 2007 Baseball World Cup, he allowed 3 runs in 2 innings in relief against Japan. He was charged with 4 of Mexico's 13 runs in 1 1/3 innings in his next outing, but two of the scores were unearned thanks to an Ashley Scott error. His 13.50 ERA in the tournament was second-highest on a last-place South African squad.

In the 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament, the right-hander allowed 5 hits and 4 runs in two innings against Team Canada. Facing Australia, he gave up only one run in 2 2/3 innings after replacing the injured Jared Elario. His 9.64 ERA for the event was near the median point of the South African staff.

Jefrries tossed 1 2/3 hitless, scoreless innings for South Africa in the 2009 World Baseball Classic but walked three and hit a batter. He pitched against the Cuban national team.
