Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Gary Melson was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 15th round of the 1975 amateur draft. He made it to AAA in the Indians chain in 1978-1979, but did not get called up to the majors. On February 15, 1980, Melson was traded by the Indians to the Atlanta Braves for Don Collins. He had a 2.85 ERA for the 1980 Richmond Braves but again did not get called up. He struggled in AA in 1981 (0-4, 10.20) to end his career.

Melson was a minor league teammate of Ron Hassey, who was born the exact same day, from 1976 to 1979.
