Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Gary Isakson played in the Chicago White Sox system from 1969 to 1971 and the Baltimore Orioles system in 1973. He was taken by the White Sox in the 32nd round of the 1969 amateur draft. He began his professional career at 18 years old.

He was a Gulf Coast League All-Star in 1969 (alongside Ted Nicholson and Kenneth Danson in the outfield) slashing .271/.330/.325 with 8 stolen bases and 25 runs scored in 51 games for the GCL White Sox. In 1970, his only season of 100-plus games, he slashed .228/.318/.299 with 2 home runs, 18 RBI and 10 stolen bases in exactly 100 games for the Single-A Appleton Foxes. Back with Appleton in 1971, Isakson hit .265/.343/.380 in 38 games. After not playing in 1972, he returned in the Orioles chain as a pitcher, posting a 6.00 ERA in 4 games for the Lodi Lions; in 6 innings, he allowed 13 hits, 8 walks and 11 runs (4 earned), while striking out 7 batters.
