Biographical Information[edit]
Gakuto Wakabayashi played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Wakabayashi was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the 4th round of the 2020 NPB draft, and he hit .278/.340/.389 with 20 steals in 2021 before he tore his ACL on May 30 and missed the rest of the season. He was still 6th in the Pacific League in steals, between Ukyo Shuto and Masaki Mimori. Wakabayashi hit .207/.258/.207 in 2022 after returning, and his batting line was .244/.261/.356 in 2023. He struggled in 2024 as he went 8-for-62, and he was traded to the [[Yomiuri Giants for Seiya Matsuhara. Wakabayashi hit .214/.250/.357 in 27 games the rest of the season. He recorded a walk-off single against the Yokohama BayStars on July 12, and he was the first player in NPB history to collect a walk-off hit for two different teams in the same season.
