Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Fred Olmstead played four major league seasons, all with the Chicago White Sox, from 1908 to 1911. His best year was 1910, when he went 10-12, 1.95.
He set an obscure record on September 30 of 1910 when he defeated the St. Louis Browns, 9-1, as he allowed 16 hits but just one run. That is the most hits allowed by anyone giving up just 1 run in a nine-inning game. Among the hits were four by Ray Jansen who played his only career game as the Browns' third baseman that day.
