Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Frankie Pack was signed as an amateur free agent by the St. Louis Browns during the 1945 season. The seventeen-year-old appeared in three games for the Toledo Mud Hens of the American Association that year and got one hit, a triple, in four at-bats.
Frankie had three good seasons in the minors, hitting .289 in 1946 and .328 in 1947. The Morristown, TN native followed that up with .309 average in 1948. Pack was having another good run in 1949 with the San Antonio Missions of the AA Texas League when he was called up to the major leagues by the Browns and made his debut on June 5th. He pinch-hit in one game, struck out and that was it for Frankie in the Show. He finished up the season with the Elmira Pioneers of the class A Eastern League, with a combined .303 average for the year.
Frankie was out of baseball in 1950 but re-started in 1951 and hit .257 in another combined year with the Anderson Rebels of the class B Tri-State League and the Augusta Tigers of the class A South Atlantic League. He was with the Granby Phillies of the class C Provincial League in 1952 and appeared in 20 games, hitting .222 and left baseball at the age of 24. His minor league totals show that he appeared in 537 games, hit 33 home runs and had a .296 batting average.
After baseball, little is known as to his life. He died on January 26, 2000 in Hendersonville, NC at 71 years of age.
