Biographical Information[edit]
Frank Pears was in the majors twice and spent many years in the minors, mostly in the Western League and the Western Association.
He was the third manager for the St. Thomas Saints in the 1898 Canadian League. J.F. Shuster was the original manager being replaced May 6th by Bill Kuehne who, in turn, was replaced by Pears on August 8th.
He was an umpire in the National League in 1897 and 1905 and in the American League in 1903.
One can place Pears on the "All-Fruits Team" along with Pete Appleton, Grady Orange, Rick Grapenthin, and John Meloan.
