Biographical Information[edit]
Frank Okrie is the father of Len Okrie and minor leaguer Bob Okrie. He pitched 21 games for the Detroit Tigers under manager Hughie Jennings in 1920. He was ten years younger than teammate Ty Cobb.
Frank had been with the London Tecumsehs in 1919, going 11-5. He also spent multiple years with the Toledo Mud Hens and the Omaha Buffaloes.
After baseball Frank worked in an auto factory and in a tire factory in Detroit, MI. All three of his sons played professional baseball. Source: SABR biography of Len Okrie.
Frank lived to 1959, long enough to see his son Len in the major leagues and also as a minor league manager. After Frank died, Len became a major league coach.
