Biographical Information[edit]

Second baseman Frank Murray played in the minor leagues from 1946 to 1948 and from 1950 to 1958. He had a few seasons of particular note. In 1947, he hit .359/.482/.396 with 11 stolen bases and 36 walks in 49 games for the Stockton Ports, then the next year, back with Stockton, he had 34 steals and 96 runs scored. He broke out in 1951 with the Amarillo Gold Sox of the high-offense West Texas-New Mexico League, batting .330/.423/.507 with 139 runs scored, 19 triples and 86 walks (to just 18 strikeouts) in 136 games. With the Wichita Falls Spudders in 1952, he hit .317/.388/.437 with 205 hits, 48 doubles, 122 runs, 100 RBI and 23 stolen bases in 147 games. He faded a bit after that, though he slugged 15 homers in 1956 and 13 more in 1957.

He spent a full season in the Open designation, 1953, but hit just .218/.304/.273 there.

His birth year has also been listed as 1927.[1] He served in the U.S. Army from late 1948 to early 1950.
