Biographical Information[edit]
Frank Bliss was the first major leaguer from the University of Michigan. According to the Milwaukee Daily News, he left his law studies at Michigan to play for the Milwaukee Grays, who were badly in need of a catcher due to various injuries in 1878. After one game at third base on June 20, Bliss played catcher on June 22 and was charged with six passed balls plus was injured on a foul tip. It was to be his last major league game.
