Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Frank Batista began his professional career in the Chicago Cubs minor league system in 2009. He was signed by scouts Jose Serra and Jose Estevez.

After two ho-hum seasons to start his career, Batista posted a 2.36 ERA and saved 26 games for the Daytona Cubs in 2011, and in 2012 he had 24 saves and a 2.69 ERA in 49 games between the Tennessee Smokies and Triple-A Iowa Cubs. He got all his saves while with Tennessee and led the Southern League in that category. In 2013, he had 19 saves and a 2.60 ERA for Tennessee. He began 2014 with Tennessee as well, beginning a transition to the starting rotation, where he mostly remained through 2015. He reached Triple A for the first time in 2014.

He played briefly in the Dominican Winter League in the 2015-16 winter league season and in a couple games for Les Capitales de Quebec of the independent Can-Am League in 2017.
