Folsom, CA
Folsom is located in central California, on the American River as it comes out of Folsom lake, northeast of Rancho Cordova, CA and 15 miles northeast of Sacramento, CA.
It is well known as the site of a huge state penitentiary, Folsom Prison, where a number of exhibition games against professional players - including major leaguers - were staged over the years. Former major leaguer Ralph Schwamb, serving a conviction for murder, was a star pitcher for the Folsom team in the 1940s and 1950s.
