Biographical Information[edit]

Floyd Fogg played in the minor leagues for ten seasons, from 1945 to 1954. He began his professional career at 19 years old. He had served in the Marines in World War II; his obituary said he earned two Purple Hearts in Iwo Jima.

The slugging infielder hit over 20 home runs five times, per records available, with a career high of 27 (accomplished twice, 1947 and 1953). In 1947, he hit .327 and led the Cotton States League in home runs and RBI (112) while playing for the Clarksdale Planters. With the Fayetteville Cubs in 1948, he paced the Tri-State League in RBI with 144, while hitting .307 with 22 home runs. The Toledo Mud Hens selected him from the Nashville Volunteers in the 1949 Rule V Draft; he ended up appearing in just seven games with Toledo. While he spent six seasons in AA and was productive there, he only had two brief stints in AAA.

Overall, Fogg had at least 1,017 hits and 123 home runs in his career. He later was an insurance broker.
