Florida Winter Baseball League
The Florida Winter Baseball League is a professional, independent winter league based in Florida. Leagues by the name have existed on-and-off since 2009. The initial iteration was based in Miami, FL and featured the Miami Diamantes (managed by Joe Alvarez, featuring Alex Castellanos), Lake County Black Bears (managed by George Foster), Seminole County Naturals (managed by Andy Barkett) and Space Coast Urge (managed by Jim Gabella). The league did not complete its season. Another league by the name surfaced in 2012, however its connection to the 2009 loop may have just been in name only. In 2015, the league resurfaced again, this time based in Pompano Beach, FL. The teams this round were the Broward Waverunners, the Collier County Loggerheads, the Miami-Dade Red Snappers and the Palm Beach Spoonbills.
