Biographical Information[edit]

Fernando Arrieta played in the minors and for the Mexican national team.

Arrieta's four doubles for Mexico in the 1948 Amateur World Series tied him for the event lead. [1] He turned pro the next summer, going 2 for 20 with four walks, a double and four runs for the Águila de Veracruz. [2] He hit over .400 in limited time for the 1953 Juarez Indios. [3]

He hit .315/.387/.479 in 1954 for Veracruz, scoring 63 runs in 75 games. The next year, he batted .303/.380/.418 with 55 walks and 66 runs in 98 contests. He fell to .281/.354/.344 in 1956. He split 1957 between Veracruz and the Leones de Yucatán, hitting only .211/.307/.280. In 1958, he moved to the Petroleros de Poza Rica and rebounded to .303/.354/.424. Overall, he had hit .286/.366/.391 in 457 LMB games, with 254 runs and 187 walks.
