Biographical Information[edit]

Fermin Neme played in the Division Elite and for the French national team.

Neme debuted in the Division Elite in 1999, going 5-for-23 with a walk, three runs and three RBI as a teenager. Starting in the outfield for France Équipe Fédérale in 2000, he hit .226/.378/.333 with 17 walks and a team-high 17 steals in 26 games. He also hit .233/.410/.300 in 8 games for the Paris Université Club. With Paris for all of '01, he slumped to .150/.261/.188. He still made France's squad for the 2001 European Championship. Starting in left, he batted .188/.440/.188 with five runs in seven games. In the 2001 Baseball World Cup, he hit .176/.364/.176; he had 17 putouts, one assist and no errors in playing a slick center field.

In 2002, he improved to .277/.456/.415 with 19 steals and 34 runs in 30 games for the PUC. He led the team in runs, steals, triples (4) and walks (20). He might have led the league in swipes. In '03, he hit .217/.345/.241 with 11 steals for Paris. His batting line in the 2003 European Championship was .176/.263/.176; he had four putouts, an assist and no errors. He still remained with France for the 2003 Baseball World Cup, going 0-for-6 with a BB and HBP while backing up Gaspard Fessy in left. In the 2004 French season, he batted .286/.370/.357 with 25 swipes and 33 runs in 36 games for the Savigny Lions. He led Savigny in steals, one ahead of Christophe Goniot. He batted .284/.398/.353 for the '05 Lions with 14 steals in 32 games. He had hit .242/.368/.312 in 199 games, with 101 runs, 151 runs and 89 RBI. He fielded .977.
