Felipe Rubio Chirino

Biographical Information[edit]

Felipe Rubio was on the Chilean national team in the 2016 South American Championship, hitting .263 with five runs, three RBI, two steals and a walk in six games. He was second on the team in runs, one behind Ignacio Sánches. He also took the mound once, getting rocked for 7 runs (4 earned), 3 hits and 2 walks in 2/3 of an inning against eventual Gold Medalist Brazil. He did not fare as well in the 2018 South American Championship, going 0 for 9 for the Bronze Medal winners; he split catching primarily with Oscar Rojas.

David Rubio later joined him on the team; they are presumably brothers as they share the same matrilineal surname as well.
