Biography[edit]

Fautino De Los Santos reached the majors with the Oakland Athletics in 2011.

Originally signed by Denny Gonzalez for the Chicago White Sox in 2005, De Los Santos made his pro debut with the DSL White Sox in 2006. He boasted a 1.86 ERA after making 10 appearances (9 starts) in the Dominican Summer League during the 2006 season, and continued his success with the Kannapolis Intimidators in 2007. He appeared in the 2007 Futures Game, where he gave up a solo home run to Justin Upton and struck out two batters in one inning of work.

De Los Santos was promoted to Winston Salem in August of 2007. He made his first start for the Warthogs on August 10th, he allowed one run in five innings and struck out six. Between Kannapolis and Winston-Salem, De Los Santos won 10 games and fanned 153 hitters. Opponents hit just .163 against the righty.

De Los Santos was traded to the Oakland Athletics in January of 2008, being sent with Gio Gonzalez and Ryan Sweeney in return for Nick Swisher. That preseason, De los Santos was name the #60 prospect by Baseball America.

De los Santos accepted a 50-game suspension resulting from MLB's investigation of the Biogenesis Laboratories on August 5, 2013. He was playing in the minor leagues at the time.
