Biographical Information[edit]

Second baseman Essex Burton was taken in the 26th round of the 1991 Amateur Draft by the Chicago White Sox. He played seven minor league seasons and was a Carolina League All-Star in 1994 while playing for the Prince William Cannons. He hit .266/.358/.323 in his career and led the Eastern League in sacrifice flies with 16 while with the Reading Phillies in 1996, which set the all-time EL record.
