Biographical Information[edit]

Ernie Murray was a minor league pitcher. He started his career in 1904 with the Charleston Sea Gulls of the South Atlantic League and appeared in 33 games for them, winning 15 and losing 17. The following year he joined the Little Rock Travelers of the Southern Association and lost all 6 of the games he played in according to his stats (though this number may be incomplete). He was sent back to Charleston before the end of the season and finished off 1905 with the Sea Gulls, winning at least 5 games on the mound and losing at least 13. He headed north in 1906 and joined the Scranton Miners of the New York State League and also played for the Binghamton Bingoes that year. In 1907 he played for the Lynchburg Shoemakers of the Virginia League under the management of former major leaguer John Grim. Murray won at least 9 games and lost at least 12 for the team that year. He played his final game in 1908 with the Montgomery Senators of the Southern Association.
