Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Ernie Baker spent four years in the St. Louis Cardinals system. He peaked at Triple-A.

Signed as a non-drafted free agent, he began his career by going 3-1 with a 1.57 ERA in 15 games for the Johnson City Cardinals in 1989. For the Savannah Cardinals in 1990, he was 6-3 with a 2.03 ERA in 70 appearances and in 1991, he went 0-4 with a 4.22 ERA in 40 games between the St. Petersburg Cardinals and Triple-A Louisville Redbirds. With St. Petersburg in 1992, Baker went 1-0 with a 3.15 ERA in 12 games.

Overall, he was 10-8 with a 2.85 ERA in 137 games.
