Biographical Information

Ernesto Noris has pitched in Cuba and Brazil.

Noris spent 10 seasons in the Cuban Serie Nacional, going 28-21 with 10 saves and a 3.73 ERA in 165 games (31 starts). He struck out 364 in 538 2/3 IP, walked 166 and allowed 543 hits. He then pitched in Brazil and coached for them in the 2008 Americas Baseball Cup. He was the oldest player on the Brazilian national team roster for the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. In his lone game, he relieved André Rienzo in the opener against host Panama, with two on and two out in the 4th and a 2-2 game. He got Isaias Velasquez in the grounder. After Brazil scored in the 5th, Ernesto Silva relieved and Noris wound up with the win despite having faced one batter.

He pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings in the 2013 World Baseball Classic itself, allowing one hit (to Alexei Bell, scoring an inherited runner) over two games. Only Carlos Yoshimura worked more innings for Brazil without an earned run. In the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he was 28 years older than teammate Eric Pardinho. The 44-year-old did not get into a game.
