Biographical Information[edit]

Erik Davis is a pitcher in the Washington Nationals organization.

Davis was three different times in the amateur draft: in the 47th round of the 2004 draft by the Anaheim Angels out of Mountain View High School in Mountain View, CA; in the 21st round of the 2007 draft by the Texas Rangers; and finally in the 13th round of the 2008 draft, by the San Diego Padres, as a senior out of Stanford University.

He began his professional career with the Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League in 2008, going 2-0, 2.70 in 14 games, including 5 starts. He had an excellent season with the Fort Wayne TinCaps of the Midwest League in 2009, going 16-6, 3.64, becoming a full-time starter over the season's second half. In 2010, he made it all the way to AAA after starting out with the Lake Elsinore Storm of the California League, going 14-3, 3.52 with three teams at three levels. He was 9-3 in 19 starts for the Storm to begin the year, earning a promotion to the AA San Antonio Missions of the Texas League, where he was 4-0 in 7 starts. He ended the season by making one start with the Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League, giving up 2 runs while striking out 7 in 5 innings in a no-decision.

On March 28, 2011, he was traded by the Padres to the Washington Nationals in return for major league infielder Alberto Gonzalez.
