Biographical Information[edit]

Eric Owens played 9 seasons in the majors as an outfielder and sometimes infielder. In 2000, he batted .293 and scored 87 runs in 145 games, while playing all three outfield spots. He didn't have much power, but his speed was good, with totals of 16, 33, 29 and 26 stolen bases.

He was the hitting coach for the Cedar Rapids Kernels of the Midwest League in 2006 and 2007 and the Arkansas Travelers in 2008. He was the Los Angeles Angels' roving outfield, baserunning and bunting coordinator in 2009-2010. Owens moved to the Los Angeles Dodgers as minor league Hitting Coordinator in 2011-2012. In 2015, he was named assistant hitting coach of the Toronto Blue Jays, staying until the end of the 2016 season.
