Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Emiliano Teodo was signed by the Texas Rangers as an international amateur free agent on January 28, 2020. He would normally have begun his pro career that summer in the Dominican Summer League, but the COVID-19 pandemic changed a lot of things that year, including delaying his professional debut by a year, and moving it to the ACL Rangers, where he would normally have ended up in 2021 in any case.

He had a solid maiden pro season, going 4-2, 3.38 in 19 games as a reliever and striking out 48 batters in 29 1/3 innings. In 2022, he spent the year with the Down East Wood Ducks of the Carolina League, going 3-6, 3.09 in 22 games, including 17 starts; he struck out 115 batters in 84 1/3 innings. In 2023, he continued his progression, moving up to the Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League where he was 5-3, 4.52 in 18 games (14 starts) and 61 2/3 innings. He missed over a month of action with an injury in April/May, and after the season, the Rangers sent him to the Arizona Fall League. There he was used exclusively as a reliever and was named the circuit's Reliever of the Year as well as taking part in the AFL Rising Stars Game.

Emiliano was back to starting full-time with the Frisco RoughRiders of the AA Texas League in 2024. He was named to take part in the 2024 Futures Game for the American League, and scouts rated him as having the best fastball among participants at the prestigious event. His signature pitch had been timed up to 103 mph, placing him in the elite level. He impressed as the starting pitcher for the AL, needing just 14 pitches to retire all six batters he faced.
