Biographical Information[edit]

Elvis Pena was a star in the 2007 European Cup, going 8 for 14 with 2 doubles, a triple, a home run, 4 runs and 5 RBI in 4 games for Telemarket Rimini.

Pena joined the Colorado Rockies organization in 1994 and gradually ascended their minor league ladder. He made his major league debut on September 2, 2000 and appeared in 10 games for the Rockies. In 2001 Pena was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers organization where he played in another 15 major league games to complete his major league career. He returned to the Rockies organization in 2004 and played his final game in 2005.

The Arizona Diamondbacks hired Pena in 2011 as an infield coach for the DSL Diamondbacks. He stayed in this role through 2015 and then coached the DSL Diamondbacks 1 in 2016 when the Diamondbacks had two DSL affiliates.

Things get more complicated going forward. There is no mention of Pena coaching in 2017-2018. In 2019 the Atlanta Braves announced Elvis De La Cruz Pena as a hitting coach for the DSL Braves. Baseball America lists an Elvis De La Cruz as a coach for the team and lists him this way through 2022. For 2023, multiple sources list Elvis Pena as a coach for the DSL Braves. The best guess is that this is the same person throughout and also the same person who earlier coached for the Diamondbacks.
